Magneto-optics

The lab continues to expand. This summer, we installed a room temperature magneto optical system capable of measure defects both in diamond as well as SiC. The image to the left shows the business end of the microscope, with approximately 100mW of 532nm excitation light illuminating a silicon oxide chip drop casted with 40nm diameter nanodiamonds. The GMW electromagnet can produce up to 0.5 T of transverse magnetic field in both directions.
